The crappy roads with gravel continued to plague the peloton on the third racing day.
The first 70km it was absolute war. Attack after attack after attack. I tried to help and cover a few moves but my legs were still feeling the efforts from the day before. Just when I thought I was going to get dropped after a huge effort to come back to a big group, another one left and things finally slowed down.
Quickly we took the place behind the leading team and I was able to recover my tired legs a bit. Unfortunately the breakaway was big and we had no one in it, so when I heard a "Till! Va roule!" I joined the leading team in taking turns upfront.
Although I was tired I still had an incredible amount of power in the legs and took long turns. It makes working at the front so much more bearable when everyone that's working with you drops to the back 4,5,6 times and you just keep rolling and rolling. It definitely motivated me!
We managed to bring the gap down to 30 seconds with 5km to go. Then I pulled my last turn and swung off. Absolutely knackered. I probably lost 6 minutes in the last 4km.
But job well done.
